While we won’t be going through the pastures, you will spend an extended time in each barn with your tour guide, who is part of our Animal Management team, learning about the natural history of these magnificent animals and how we care for them during the winter. For guests who have made the advance online reservations required for this tour, you will still meet your tour guide at the main parking lot but will then be escorted, driving your own vehicle to the giraffe and rhino barns (with the possibility of visiting the hoofstock barn). This year, we have made some additional modifications to these tours to help keep everyone healthy and safe. The Winter at The Wilds Tours take guests behind the scenes to view animals in their winter housing and exercise yards where you will also learn about special winter enrichment activities to keep the animals engaged.
